Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA)

The purpose of an IIA is to provide details of processes such as intellectual property management and distribution of income from collaborative commercialization activities. Most commonly, an IIA is used to manage jointly owned intellectual properties resulting from collaboration among academic institutions. Typically, use of an IIA is reserved among academic institutions because collaboration with for-profit Companies requires a prearranged intellectual property management agreement such as an SRA.
