Creating the Foundation for Economic Development

The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) offers faculty, staff, and students the opportunity to commercialize, license, and legally protect inventions and innovation created through South Dakota State University research. Working alongside SDSU research, the mission of the Technology Transfer Office is to identify, protect, and commercialize intellectual property. Once an idea is identified, the TTO seeks opportunities to meet commercial needs through technological advancement, identifying commercial partners, and generating market interest. By facilitating partnerships with universities and industry, the TTO drives science and technology-based economic development. The TTO strives to generate income to support further research and education, build a foundation for creation of new jobs, formation of new technology-based business, and a diversifying South Dakota’s economic base ultimately creating a globally competitive economy for South Dakota.
